Pause The Time is a newly formed trio that explores the possibilities of jazz with trumpet, double bass and drums—a rare lineup inviting openness, interplay and sonic discovery. Rooted in original compositions for this format and works by Ornette Coleman, Mal Waldron and Anthony Braxton, the trio’s sound balances structure and freedom, melody and silence. Álvaro Ocón brings a lyrical trumpet voice; Paddy Fitzgerald expands the sound through acoustic and electronic sensibilities; Pau Planas provides rhythmic color and fluidity drawn from jazz, flamenco, funk, Brazilian and West African traditions. Together they create music that is open, exploratory and deeply personal, pushing the boundaries of traditional jazz trios.
