“El Radio Fantastique washed up on the shores of San Francisco in the fall of '05, brought with the flood from New Orleans where the group was first raised from the swamps. Inspired by a bizarre family tale of a sinister radio that possessed it's listeners, principal songwriters, singers, bandleaders and wedded couple Giovanni and June DiMorente approach their music like one would turn a dial on an antique radio; tuning in to a broad and wide-ranging spectrum of musical styles, places, and times to create a sound that is at once haunting and eerily familiar. As a living music-breathing entity, El Radio Fantastique's 7-piece band is a stitched together
b-movie creature - part rumba band in purgatory, part cinematic chamber group, part shipwrecked serenade. Favorable comparisons have been made to Nino Rota, Henry Mancini, Kurt Weill, Martin Denny and Tom Waits. Feeding on invisible mysterious musical currents, it's alive, waiting in the shadows to posses you. It is El Radio Fantastique!“
