Gjon Guralumi, acordéon, Mrgane chant et Damien Converset, sax
Guralumi was born of an encounter between Gjon Guralumi and Krenar Arifi at the Lausanne Jazz School Its founders’ Balkan roots naturally predisposed the duo to the practice of jazz and of the folk music of their native lands. After two years as a duo, they decided to flesh out the group—which eventually evolved into the present-day sextet. The group prides itself on its pioneering cultural and musical mixes. Sung exclusively in Albanian, the lyrics are highlighted by the alto sax’s sinuous musical line while the rhythm section’s freewheeling improvisations underscores the personality of each musician. So Guralumi is really ideally suited to live performances, as the following new album “ albanianjazzproject”
